When it comes to why marriages break up, ignorance about this stage of the datingcycle ranks very high. Marriage is not the end of the dating cycle, in fact the datingcycle never ends. That’s why we call it a cycle. But, I’ll get to that later.

After marriage, you spouse must become your best friend. It’s great to be lovers but its better to be best friends too. Lovers end up in divorce courts Best friends don’t! This is why it is so important to start the datingcycle at the friendships stage. Then it is easier to become best friends over the years as you learn to trust and respect your spouse. Even when the wrinkles come and the sparks are no longer flying you will still be together because you are best friends!

Now back to the cycle. The idea is not to stop the dating and the fun things, the romance and the conscious effort to be at your best when you are with your partner. Your attitude shouldn’t be lackadaisical because you are now married and there is no reason to impress your spouse any more. You must deliberately re-invent your love constantly.
